Within the beautiful grounds are acres of ornamental gardens, a vineyard, woodland and wild flower meadow. And of course a 12 metre swimming pool which can be heated or chilled according to the season, surrounded by inviting sun loungers.
Standing proud in the park are the chateau’s two famous and romantic pigeonniers. The mark of the chateau’s nobility, and an echo of it’s own two towers, they once housed flocks of birds bred for their plump delicacy and the efficacy of their guano. Our older beret-bearing neighbours inform us that their atmospheric arches played host to many a first kiss when the chateau was deserted. And quite often a second. Long may the tradition continue! Vive les bisous!
